About Us

How We Got Started

Driven by a team of dedicated volunteers, ROC began in 2000 as a belief in the potential of youth and a vision to help guide them through the major and recurring difficulties in their lives. Within a year, a volunteer Board of Directors was established to guide the development of ROC, and to work at increasing funding and local support for the organization. The Board soon obtained charitable status with the CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) allowing them to provide tax receipts for donations. In 2010, ROC employed an Executive Director to manage its growing operations. After 13 years in MacCaulay Village of Prince Edward County, ROC moved its programming directly into the schools to become more accessible to the youth, and partner with all points of the County. In January, 2017, ROC proudly opened the doors of the Prince Edward County Youth Centre, as a safe space to support youth success and contribute to a healthy and vibrant PEC.

Our Mission

To provide opportunities, mentorship and programs that foster strong personal and social development for all children and youth in Prince Edward County.

Our vision is that every young person in Prince Edward County has an equal chance to excel in life.

We are pleased to share this video project, created and produced by youth, working in collaboration with
County Productions, through our YES (Youth Entrepreneur Success) Program. These are the voices of our young people.

Our Programs

Since 2000 the ROC has led fun, safe programs where youth know they belong and are empowered to make positive choices in their lives. Our programs engage them in activities that challenge them to develop healthy minds and bodies. ROC hosts several programs throughout the week for all youth ages 6 to 18. All ROC programs address three key areas of healthy living: physical, mental and social well-being. Nutritious snacks are provided at all programs and there are no fees to attend.

In School

Girls Group at PECI, GUY TIME and Girls ROCk it! programs are offered during nutrition break with activities and conversations surrounding lifestyle choices, healthy relationships, and create a sense of belonging in their school and larger community.

After School

ROC after school programs engage boys and girls from grades 1 through 8. Providing opportunities each week to participate and develop fundamental movement skills in a variety of sport workshops and recreational activities, led by local guest coaches and instructors.
